Starting with washed out Nike shirt participants will shred, blend, scoop, press, dry, type and fold into an envelope. On the far right a mailbox awaits participants’ handmade post, containing their worn clothes and written words of grievances against the fast fashion industry.This installation is not just an artistic endeavour but a call to action, highlighting the contrast between the time-consuming craft of papermaking and the rapid, disposable nature of fast fashion. It aims to engage consumers and brands alike, fostering a collective effort towards change.Aligned with The Or Foundation, a Ghana-based activist non-profit organisation on their #SpeakVolumes campaign. Their campaign pushes brands to disclose their production volumes. This data impacts everyone along the value chain. Its unavailability and thus lack of transparency allows the industry to cover up its human rights infractions and prohibits meaningful change. Throughout the autumn, eight students on the Bachelor in Acting at Kristiania and graduating students on the Bachelor in Screenwriting at Kristiania, and Master's students in system-oriented design at AHO. have worked closely with people who have experience as children, parents, foster parents and staff in child welfare. Together, the students and partners have explored how theater can be used to create new perspectives and conversations about what child protection is, and can be. This performance is the result of this work. In the performance, the audience is invited into a complex system, and how this feels on the body for those who are in it. Most visibly, these women can sell handmade items in one of the Tesselschade stores. The aim of the Elck Syn Waerom workshop is to learn about the infrastructure of the Tesselschade organization, to explore the history and current workings of the organization, as well as to examine their textile techniques and craft library.&nbsp; With this collaborative textile piece, participants in the Elck Syn Waerom workshop show some of the rich history that can be found in the library of Tesselschade Amsterdam. The piece exhibits various images found in the library, as well as several embroideries and works in other techniques that were discovered there, which were added both by participants in the workshop and Tesselschade’s members. The textile piece takes the shape of a tent, a portal, where we ask the visitor to ponder for a moment the (often rendered invisible) history of women’s labour and the inferior position that handcrafts (still) occupy within the arts. The tent offers respect to the many women – past, present and future – who have dedicated time and energy to Tesselschade, making it into a refuge for women in need of financial support. Together with Line Arngaard, Elena Braida, Sara Darle Olsson, Anna Klas, Elisa van Joolen,&nbsp;Freja Nøhr Kristiansen, Marina van der Lecq, Afroditi Terzi, Hanka van der Voet and&nbsp; Rosa Shepherd. The ‘hol(e)y blanket ritual’ is a communal experience in which someone (known henceforth as the ‘blanket-holder’) brings a piece of fabric like a blanket (could already be emotionally valued) to a group of people, the community, they trust. Everyone in the group including the blanket-holder cuts out a piece. The holy blanket ritual text is read or sung aloud which invites a conversation about grief. The blanket-holder takes the blanket home and has been given the opportunity to crochet around the holes to accentuate the symbolic meaning. The attendants from the group can take their cut-out and place it on one of their own blankets. A ritual like this can be done at any points in a persons life, also multiple times. No one is to be forced to participate in the ritual. This synthesis is a result from a long journey of experiments and research into mourning and grief. It takes simply those ingredients to crochet, but also to heal. The blanket-holder is encouraged to crochet so there is an occasion to mourn. The crocheting, additionally, accentuates the hole to show its growth. Hole = an opening, a window, a niche, an open space to let be. So we can embrace the silence, the shadows and death. It is a collection of the book, the tools, the experiments, the philosophy and the playlist.
