Recent design graduate Lara van der Poel, is a socially engaged designer who views her work as a facilitator of ideas and connections. For Lara, design extends beyond aesthetics, serving as a tool for social change. Her process involves exploring disciplines such as theatre, research, fashion, and innovative materials to craft meaningful narratives. With her latest graduation work she built connections between different street communities in Eindhoven. In addition to her other graduation project “Worn Words: she
uses an interactive installation to highlight the sustainability challenges of the fashion industry,
inviting participants to reflect and advocate for systemic improvements.

My name is Lara, a graphic and social designer based in Eindhoven. My work is interactive, critical and performative. I often use poetry, double meanings and metaphors to express my feelings about the world surrounding us. I have a root in activism and strive for a little chaos, disruption and alternativity.
